| S·P·O·T |
Manager: Sue Addis (tel 750951)
St. Paul's Outreach Trading or S.P.O.T was opened in October 1998 to provide much need funding for St. Paul's Church, by recycling useable goods at affordable prices.
This shop serves as a valuable ‘window’ for the church in the local community as well as helping to generate income to support our mission.
Expanding on jumble sales and car boots into a shop helped us not only provide a service to the community but an outreach.
Volunteers (members of the congregation and non members) interact with anybody who enters. Listening with sympathy to illnesses, housing problems, domestic upsets and holiday news means that trust has been formed.
Advising young mums and helping young people equip their first bedsit and sharing our local knowledge with new occupants of recently developed housing is a free service.
Talking to the aged and lonely about the price of goods, political unrest and the weather forms a bond of trust and new support for our recycling because they want to share by bringing goods to us to sell.
Answering questions on religion, our Church's role in the community and our personal commitment has encouraged involvement at Church functions.
Offering to share through Christian worship, social activities and prayer helps to show our religion as a way of life which is free to all.
Being there in trouble and joy is showing the love of God in our parish and is one of the roles of SPOT.
